Making it breezy: 5 tips for a successful kitchen remodel

The kitchen is one of the room’s in the home that must be convenient. If you’ve ever set foot in a space that was designed well before your time you will know of the pitfalls of an inconvenient cookery.

Bottomless draws, endless cabinets and frightening cookware are not something we need in this contemporary life, and are something that beg the call of the best kitchen designs Castle Hill has available.

And whilst this design whizzes can (and will!) create a dream cooking space, there are a few tips we provide to help you get the ball rolling on a smooth, stress-free and ultimately stunning food prep space:

  1. Start planning now

There is absolutely no greater design flaw than starting too late. If you’re looking to get the remodelling party started in the near-future then you don’t want to allow yourself to be caught out when the time for design and installation has come.

Instead, ask yourself the following questions and ask them early:

  1. What do I want out of the remodel?

  2. What can be easily overlooked?

  3. What is my remodelling budget?

Planning is vital as it not only helps you easily navigate what could otherwise be a stressful situation, but it also helps you stay well within your budget capacity.

2. Create easy kitchen living

This space should be convenient. The bathroom should be calm, the bedroom should be cosy, and this room should be convenient. This rings true in the modern age, when we are all just that bit pushed for time and we could do without all the running all over the place that could be found in any space designed before this century.

So, plan your space in a way that makes it easy for you to cook: keep the breakfast bowls, coffee cups and fruits near the breakfast bar; the pots near the stove and the cleaning products near the sink. There is nothing more frustrating when trying to cook than having to run all over the place to make it happen - make it easier by creating an easy cooking space!

3. Keep the space spacious

You don’t want to find yourself in a cramped, awkward space. If this happens, we guarantee you will ask yourself this very question: ‘why, on Earth, did I even bother with this remodel in the first place?’

That’s because a cramped, spaceless kitchen is one that frustrates every household member. You know what we mean: the whole, you’re trying to cook dinner whilst your son is blocking the walkway just so they can spoil their appetite with cheese and crackers type deal.

It’s something all modern kitchens should do without - the trick is to design the food preparation spaces in a way that allows plenty of prep space without encroaching on foot traffic.

  1. Make the range nice & arranged

Cooking with an inconvenient range can be really off putting. So, why not work towards arranging the range in a way that optimises convenience? Install some racks on the splashback for holding utensils, herbs and spices, condiments etc.

Furthermore, install some S hooks for hanging your frequently used pots and pans in a way that is quickly accessible when timing is imperative and you need that pan to be heated and ready to go!

  1. Consider your consumption

In your current kitchen design, do you find that there is endless space for food and drink that you don’t actually need? If you can see that much of your pantry space is bare real estate, why not consider downsizing in your new design as this will allow more space for, say, that much-desired bench space? It’s a sneaky trick to truly amplify the room’s convenience…
