Blister Balm review - Just the thing for an active outdoor Summer
- Written by Greg Rogers
We were offered a sample of Blister Balm to try out for this review. Its first outing was on this windswept beach on a very hot day.
First test was as a moisture barrier for lip protection. Blister Balm worked in that my lips did not dry out or crack in the 35 km/hr wind during a one hour beach walk.
First impressions are that unlike other lip protection products that I have used, Blister Balm has a thicker consistency. It does not flow on to the skin; it is applied to the skin and it stays in place unless it is wiped off. If too much is applied, you can feel the extra as a miniature lump of wax.
On a hot day, when many lip protection products turn into a liquid if left in a handbag or car, this product will remain firm and as a result will remain in place.
Once applied the smooth layer does its job for a long time.
Naturally Blister Balm can be used in other locations for different purposes as it is both protects and acts a lubricant which could reduce friction that leads to blisters on sensitive skin. I tried Blister Balm on a minor heel crack while wearing thongs on a walk to the shops. It worked there too! No pain and the exposed softer skin was protected from further moisture loss.
All in all. This is a superior product that does what it says it will.
About Blister Balm
Blister Balm, from the beginning:
A few years ago I was out with my auntie. She was experiencing pain on her small toe which was chafing against her shoe and, we didn’t have any Band-Aids. She decided to improvise by applying a silicone based spray onto her toe where there was rubbing. Amazingly the pain went away. A few days later I had a similar experience where my toes were chafing against my shoes. My auntie remembered how effective the silicone spray had been and told me to give it a go. I sprayed it onto my toes and I couldn’t believe it, the pain simply went away! That’s when it hit me, this really works! I wanted to turn this into a product that is accessible to everyone!
Currently I work full time for BHP in Perth and have been with the company for 5 years. My aspiration is to develop Blister Balm into a global brand and develop the other product ideas I have to assist customers.
I like to think of myself as a free spirit and I love caring for the environment. I hope to invest one day into a sustainable business venture that will make a real impact to reduce our carbon footprint on this plant. I love all things yoga and meditation, reading and music.
I have been attending Toastmaster for 3.5 years which has helped me overcome my fear of public speaking. I now teach high school students how to speak in public as I believe this skill is crucial for teens to develop a sound understanding of who they are by finding their voice. This leads into confidence and can have a powerful impact in their lives.
Blister Preventative Blister Balm works best as a preventative measure. Apply to areas of the feet as soon or prior to skin sensitivity occurring from chafing with footwear.
Skin Relief
The emollient wax and butter will soothe your skin. Apply at the onset or prior to feet experiencing sore or burning sensation from chafing.
Application
For spot application to high-friction areas of the feet: toes, heels, in/outstep. Do not apply to broken skin. Work in Balm thoroughly and ensure shoes are secure.
Assist wearing shoes
Avoid using band-aids or gel pads to prevent blisters. Blister Balm is safe and reliable way to ensure you can wear your footwear through-out the day.
Bees Wax
Beeswax carries antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties that are essential in fighting chapped skin and bacterial infections that tend to affect us most in the dry, winter months. It forms a protective wall by sealing in moisture in skin without smothering and clogging up the pores.
Mango Butter
Mango butter is extracted from the shelled fruit kernel of the mango tree, which is a tropical evergreen. This butter is highly emollient, softening and soothing to the skin. Mango butter has protective effects against UV radiation and also helps treat skin rash, eczema and insect bites.
Isoproyl Myristate
Isoproyl Myristate is used in cosmetic products for moisturizing the skin. This is because it is an emollient, which helps to strengthen the natural moisture barrier of the skin, thus enabling it to remain hydrated by decreasing moisture loss. It is manufactured through the condensation of Isopropyl Alcohol (a propane derivative) and Myristic Acid (a naturally-occurring fatty acid). It originates from Vegetable - Palm or Coconut.
